The Cocker Spaniel Family Rematch & Refund Policy
Bringing a puppy home is supposed to feel easy — a wagging tail underfoot within a day or two. This page covers what happens on the rare occasion that it doesn't, and why reaching out about it should never feel like a hard phone call to make.
Life shifts in ways no one plans for — a move, an allergy, a lease that changes overnight. Whatever the reason, we'd rather hear from you early than not at all.
What This Policy Protects
This policy exists to look after two things at once: your peace of mind, and the wellbeing of a puppy who has trusted us both.
What You Won't Get From Us
- Guilt over a situation you didn't choose
- Confusing terms or buried fine print
- A puppy sent to a shelter or unfamiliar kennel
- A rushed, transactional conversation
What You Can Always Expect
- Your full situation heard out, first
- Plain, human explanations, every time
- A puppy welcomed straight back into our home
- As much time as the conversation needs
The First Three Days
If something feels off within the first 72 hours home — an energy mismatch, an unexpected allergy, a change of heart — reach out right away. This early window exists so small concerns get handled before they grow into bigger ones. Contacting us here is never a failure; it's simply the responsible thing to do, and we treat it that way every time.
Whichever Fits, We'll Walk It With You
Once we've talked through what's changed, most situations settle into one of two directions.
The Rematch Exchange
Sometimes the puppy is wonderful, just not quite the right fit — more spirited than expected, or a bigger coat and grooming commitment than the household bargained for. We personally help you find a better match from an available litter.
| Exchanges permitted | One |
| Replacement puppy value | Equal to or less than original |
| Matching process | Guided personally, by temperament & energy |
| Original puppy | Returns to our home, never rehomed elsewhere |
The Thoughtful Reimbursement
If an exchange isn't the right fit for your circumstances, a partial refund of the adoption fee can be arranged instead — discussed openly, with no hidden deductions or surprise clauses.
| Amount determined by | Timing & individual circumstances |
| Hidden clauses | None — discussed upfront |
| Puppy's return | Directly back into our care |
| Conversation style | Direct, personal, no interrogation |
Attachment Runs Both Ways
Cocker Spaniels were bred as close working companions in the field, walking beside a handler rather than roaming independently — and that same closeness carries straight into family life. Real attachment forms fast, on both sides of the leash.
A puppy passed between homes without a clear plan can grow anxious in ways that follow it long after. Being honest about a mismatch, early and without shame, is an act of care — and it gives that puppy a genuine shot at the right forever home.
Three Steps, Start To Finish
Reach Out Promptly
Call, text, or email within the relevant window. "We need to talk about the puppy" is opening enough.
Tell Us What's Going On
Share what's changed and which path feels right. No need to over-explain — we're here to help, not to judge.
We Handle The Rest
Return travel is arranged personally, never as freight, or a local handoff is scheduled — and we stay in touch after.
Raising a Cocker Spaniel is a small, joyful kind of chaos — hair on the couch, a shadow at your heels. When circumstances shift, our involvement doesn't stop at the sale. We stay in it, because a settled, well-loved dog is the only outcome we're actually after.
